URBN Software Engineer

Role Summary URBN is seeking a Software Engineer who will be an integral part of each phase of the software development lifecycle including design, development, deployment and maintenance. The primary focus will be on enhancing our Ecommerceplatforms supporting the online shopping experience for our brands including Anthropologie.com,UrbanOutfitters.com, FreePeople.com, and ShopTerrain.com, developing customer facingapplications, and the ability to work with or in existing store brands. Role Responsibilities Design and development of microservices and event driven systemsDevelop new product features and advance the design of existing code for the Ecommerce applicationsHelp determine the requirements, then plan, design, and develop complex and business critical softwaresolutionsDevelop functional designs while interacting with enterprise architects, developers, business partners aswell as end usersLeverage AI coding agents across planning, implementation, and review, and take accountability for the correctness and quality of the resulting codeReact to possible production issuesEnjoys working in a collaborative team setting Role Qualifications QualificationsUnderstanding of OO principles and design patternsAt least 3-5 years of software development experienceExperience with related browser technologies including JSON, REST, HTML, AJAX, CSSSelf-starter, ready to learn new concepts and technologies. Willing to take on responsibility for newfeatures and develop them from inception to completionProficient in Python/GolangStrong understanding of RESTful services designStrong understanding of asynchronous message processing technologiesStrong data modeling skillsHands-on experience with an AI coding agent in a professional codebase (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar)Strong communications skills - able to discuss complex technical problems with developers, QA andBSAsEnjoys working across teams and sharing knowledge with other engineersJob SkillsFamiliarity with search solutions like Elastic Search, SolrDemonstrated expertise with Unit Testing frameworks and mocking librariesFamiliar with Django or other ORM frameworksExperience with Tornado/Flask or other web server technologiesExperience with Vue.js or React or similar web frameworksExperience with any NoSQL DBExperience with RDBMS preferably postgres/cloud sqlExperience authoring agent files and reusable skills, and connecting agents to real systems via CLI tools or MCPExposure to data science and Machine learning technologiesUnderstanding of cloud hosting platforms and infrastructure#LI-MW3 The Perks URBN offers comprehensive Perks & Benefits to employees.
