Facilities Associate

Position: Housekeeping Associate – Lake Bluff, IL, Global Engineering Services (GES) – Abbott Lake County. As a Housekeeping Associate, you will perform facility cleaning and support required for the manufacturing and research environment at Abbott Lake County. You must adhere to quality and regulatory requirements referenced in GMPs, SOPs, DEA, OSHA, DEP and Abbott standards, including regulated cleaning procedures in production laboratories, manufacturing support laboratories, research laboratories, and common support areas such as lavatories, office areas, and break rooms. What You’ll Work On Perform housekeeping tasks as needed based on daily needs in specific areas. Perform cross contamination cleaning methods in areas with radioactive or biohazardous materials or areas requiring microbial control. Prepare radioactive and biohazard housekeeping equipment for autoclaving or disposal. Prepares floor and wall mops for autoclaving used in microbial controlled areas. Monitor waste for radioactive contamination and identify biohazardous waste. Pick and dispose of cold waste from production, manufacturing support, research laboratories, and common support areas. Complete GMP documentation attestation logs, work orders, training documents, and operate handheld electronic documentation unit where applicable. Prepare cleaning solutions based on GMP regulated mixing instructions. Perform microbial control cleaning techniques on walls, ceiling and floors based on GMP regulated cleaning frequencies and guidelines. Complete preventive maintenance work orders to meet GMP cleaning requirements. Operate various types of wet/dry battery and electric equipment, as well as electric/battery walk‑behind or ride‑on floor scrubbers, sweepers and burnishers. Perform preventive maintenance on housekeeping equipment such as battery maintenance, squeegee adjustments, air pressure checks, filter checks. Support recycling programs for glass, paper, corrugate and plastic by staging and preparing for transportation. Operate bailing and compacting equipment. Occasional duties not listed may occur. Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required; completion of initial training course provided by LC Housekeeping prior to working in regulated environments. Ability to read and comprehend written information including Corporate Quality Documents, Cross Divisional Operating Procedures, Safety Guidelines, Departmental Basic Operating Procedures and Operating Instructions. Ability to complete accurate and legible written records in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (room attestations, work orders, cleaning logs) auditable by regulatory agencies. Ability to operate a computer to complete required compliance/technical training, download daily work instructions to handheld computer, document work performed, and sync back into the CMMS for GMP review and archiving.
