Responsibilities:

• Provide occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Implement individualized treatment activities designed to improve students' fine motor skills, coordination, strength, balance, sensory processing, and functional abilities.
• Work with students individually or in small groups based on their individual needs and treatment plans.
• Assist students in developing skills related to handwriting, classroom participation, self-care, dressing, feeding, and other activities of daily living.
• Provide activities and strategies to support sensory regulation, attention, and classroom engagement.
• Assist with positioning, adaptive equipment, and other therapeutic tools as recommended by the supervising OT.
• Monitor and document student progress and communicate observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, physical therapists, speech therapists, school nurses, and other members of the educational team.
• Help incorporate therapeutic strategies into the student's classroom and school environment.
• Promote student independence, safety, and participation in school activities.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided.
• Participate in student meetings and educational team discussions as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with school policies and applicable regulations.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
• Experience working with children preferred, particularly in a school, pediatric, special education, or healthcare setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children with developmental, physical, sensory, and/or learning disabilities.
• Patient, compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented.
• Ability to follow treatment plans and work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.
