Health Care Technician I (S) Job Information Position Number: [Not Provided] Grade: MH01 Job Description The primary responsibility of the Behavioral Health Care Technician (BHCT) is to provide support to clients in working toward the goals and objectives of their treatment plans and to manage the milieu on each unit. The BHCT assists clients and the treatment team in fostering a therapeutic environment, helping with activities of daily living, monitoring medical, emotional, behavioral, or social problems, and supporting clients in overcoming these challenges. The BHCT is also responsible for accompanying and/or transporting patients in need of medical services outside the facility. The BHCT manage the unit’s milieu through close observation and interaction with all patients and is expected to provide coverage in any area as needed to provide a full range of services. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff, and others. Ability to identify potential emotional, medical, or safety concerns. Ability to follow daily instruction regarding personal care and treatment plans and daily work assignments as assigned by the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor. Preference given to applicants who have worked with individuals with substance use disorders or mental health conditions. Conditional Physical Requirements Frequent walking, standing, and lifting are required. Ability to maintain CPR certification. Ability to maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification. Shift Information We are recruiting for 12-hour day shifts and 12-hour night shifts. Hours are primarily 6:45 am – 7:15 pm or 6:45 pm – 7:15 am, with an 8‑hour shift scheduled every other week for full‑time (40 hour) staff. Part‑time (36 hour) options are available with prorated salary and benefits. Shift Premiums Nights: 20% Weekends: 5% Evenings: 20% Holiday Premium: 50% About The Facility JFK is a 68‑bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses and is accredited by the Joint Commission and certified as an inpatient psychiatric hospital. Compensation Recruitment Range: $31,200.00 – $38,688.00. Minimum Education and Experience High school or G.E.D. diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
