This general Med/Surg unit primarily cares for adult patients, with occasional pediatric patients. The RN will provide comprehensive care across medical-surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and pediatric services as needed. The RN will coordinate patient care using the nursing process while addressing each patient's physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and other individual care needs. This is not a dedicated pediatric unit. Pediatric patients may be cared for occasionally; pediatric-only RNs should not be submitted. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to adult and occasional pediatric patients. Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans. Administer medications and treatments according to orders and established protocols. Monitor patient responses to treatments and interventions. Provide care across medical-surgical, observation, outpatient, swing bed, and pediatric services as assigned. Maintain accurate patient documentation. Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Provide patient education and support. Maintain patient safety and follow infection control and hospital policies. Adapt to changing patient needs and staffing requirements. Requirements Current active Vermont RN license or valid multistate RN license required. Minimum 3 years of acute care experience required. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required. Current ACLS certification required. Meditech experience preferred. Strong knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles. Ability to care for adult patients and occasional pediatric patients. Pediatric-only experience is not appropriate for this assignment. Candidate Eligibility Active Vermont RN or eligible multistate RN license required. Minimum 3 years of acute care experience required. BLS and ACLS certifications required. Must be available for night shifts, every other weekend, and holiday coverage. Must be able to work with adult patients and occasional pediatric patients. Flu vaccination is required; no exceptions. Reliable personal transportation is essential because public transportation and rideshare services are not available in the area.
