Come join Gloucester County Finance Department! Under general supervision, the Accounting Supervisor performs supervisory and skilled fiscal control and governmental accounting work in the Finance Department. Duties include supervising the accounts payable function and management of the capital asset and property and liability insurance programs. Work involves complex reconciliations of general ledger accounts payable and capital asset accounts including calculation of yearly depreciation for annual audit. Employee must exercise independent judgment, initiative, and attention to detail. Reports to Finance Leadership.

Job Highlights

• Supervises the accounts payable function, which includes a staff of two; reviews accounting technician's work and follows up with feedback; assists with unusual or complex problems and questions and determines appropriate solution.
• Manages liability insurance program.
• Manages the capital asset program.
• Reconciles the general ledger for County and Schools payroll.
• Performs all additions, deletions and changes to County auto policy including seized and abandoned vehicles and sale of vehicles at County Auctions.
• Oversees maintenance of vendor records, including 1099 code maintenance, and annual printing and filing of 1099 forms and files necessary IRS reports.
• Reviews, verifies, and posts all accounts receivable and county revenue transactions and makes associated adjusting entries.
• Assists Accounting & Payroll Manager with preparing and reconciling daily transactions and other accounting reporting requirements.
• Prepares monthly adjusting entries for debt accounts. Reconciles debt bank statements to general ledger.
• Maintains monthly lease reconciliations.
• Manages EZ-Pass accounts; monitors activity, obtains new and replacement transponders, resolves problems, and reimburses accounts.
• Performs accounting system year-end processing and accounts payable reconciliation.
• Responds to a range of inquiries regarding financial transactions; researches and resolves problems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Possession of an associate's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related experience.
• Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
