Position Summary University Correctional Healthcare is seeking a Part Time UCHC Staff Nurse for the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ. The Staff Nurse will use the nursing process to meet a variety of health‑care needs with an ambulatory focus, working alongside health‑care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Responsibilities Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet the physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of inmate‑patients—including adults (18‑64 years) and geriatrics (65+)—within the correctional system framework. Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships. Applies current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate‑patients. Minimum Education and Experience Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric experience. Certifications and Licenses License to practice in the State of New Jersey. CPR Certification required. Valid Driver’s License required; must have own vehicle or an alternate means of transportation between sites. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be physically able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Must lift and carry an emergency treatment bag that can weigh up to 45 pounds and assist in lifting and rotating patients who cannot ambulate (up to 50 pounds). Special Conditions Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Benefits Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage. Final compensation is based on qualifications, experience, and department or grant funding.
