Posting Summary Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse for the New Jersey State Prison, located in Trenton, NJ. Responsibilities Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of residents, including adolescents, adults, and their families, within the correctional system framework. Performs assessments of residents in a variety of settings such as initial intake, sick call, emergency situations, chronic care clinics, and the infirmary. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives, implementing prescribed interventions and solutions for identified problems. Plans nursing care based on resident needs, makes appropriate referrals, and initiates care in accordance with institutional policies and procedures. As team leader or charge nurse, delegates duties to other team members based on their skills, knowledge, and experience, and guides care provision. FLSA Nonexempt Grade 01D Salary Details Minimum Salary: $37,230 Mid Range Salary: $46,540 Maximum Salary: $54,050 Offer Information The final salary offer may be determined by the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expertise, as well as availability of departmental or grant funds. Terms of Appointment Staff – 12 month Qualifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. License to practice in the State of New Jersey. CPR Certification required. Valid Driver’s License required; must possess own vehicle or alternative transportation. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes; lift and carry an emergency treatment bag up to 45 pounds; assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
