Shift Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Work Mode: 100% Onsite
Pay Rate: $30.00/Hour on W2
Job Duration: 4 months with possible extension
Job Description
Position Summary
The Desktop Support Representative provides desktop and technical support services for the employees and departments. This role serves as the primary point of contact for technology-related issues, ensuring reliable operation of desktop systems, hardware, software, and related technology services. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service abilities, and experience supporting enterprise technology environments.

Job Duties
Provide first-level and second-level desktop support for hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and related equipment.
Investigate user-reported issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Serve as a primary technology support contact for assigned departments and end users.
Proactively address customer needs and provide timely issue resolution.
Coordinate software installations, upgrades, patches, and updates.
Support virus protection programs and endpoint security initiatives.
Ensure reliable backup processes are functioning properly.
Assist with testing software changes, upgrades, and new technology implementations.
Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency and reliability.
Maintain accurate inventory records for computer equipment and technology assets.
Coordinate procurement, deployment, installation, and replacement of hardware and software.
Manage retirement, disposal, and replacement of obsolete or damaged equipment.
Evaluate and recommend purchases of computers, peripherals, network hardware, and software.
Troubleshoot desktop, network, system, and application-related issues.
Participate in performance and volume analysis activities.
Identify trends, utilization patterns, and performance concerns.
Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance service delivery.
Escalate complex technical issues when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience providing desktop support in a professional environment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Knowledge of software deployment, patching, and upgrades.
Experience managing technology inventory and asset tracking.
Strong customer service orientation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for local travel.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience supporting State of Maine agencies or government environments.
Experience with inventory management and asset tracking systems.
Knowledge of network troubleshooting and support.
Familiarity with enterprise desktop management tools.
Experience supporting Microsoft Windows environments and related technologies.
