State Government Audit Supervisor

Dynamic regional CPA firm seeks an Audit Manager with a focus on State and Local Government - Exciting path to Director / Partnership - Reasonable work-life balance - Blended work environment. Relocation support provided.The Manager serves as the point of contact between the Partner, the client, and the professional team. Managers oversee numerous auditing and accounting projects and client engagements concurrently, as well as coordinating engagement workflow, staffing, and scheduling. Managers mentor and develop staff while also fostering new business opportunities for the Firm. They play a key role in nurturing client relationships.ResponsibilitiesOversee all phases of audit or review engagements on multiple projects simultaneouslyMaintain consistent communication with clients, possessing in-depth knowledge of client operations and controls; cultivating strong client relationsKeep engagement Director or Partner informed of major client account developments; identify potential issues and propose solutionsShowcase expertise in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards, offering advisory services to clientsEnsure proper scheduling of engagementsMaintain a comprehensive understanding of the firm's audit approachCreate, track, and adhere to budgets for designated Assurance and Advisory engagements; investigate and explain budget overruns and identify scope expansion opportunitiesAnticipate potential engagement issues and questionsReview financial statements and client deliverablesSupervise and review work of senior accountants and staff accountantsContribute to staff performance evaluations, reviews, and mentoringParticipate in Firm business development initiativesQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fieldAt least five years of public accounting experience, specifically in the public sector, including auditing state and local governmentsActive CPA licensePreferred Qualifications:Demonstrated leadership abilities and team collaboration skillsEffective prioritization and deadline management skillsThorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and GASB standardsExtensive experience conducting audits in accordance with GAGAS, GAAS, and Uniform GuidanceOpen to training, supervision, and feedbackCapability to oversee, review, and train staff at all levelsExposure to auditing not-for-profit organizationsWorking ConditionsHybrid work setup (remote, office, or client location) as necessary to serve clients and train staffSame-day travel to client sites, meetings, and seminars as requiredOccasional out-of-town travel with overnight stays for client work, meetings, or seminarsOvertime expected throughout the year, with peak periods from August to FebruaryFirst Name(Required)Last Name(Required)Email(Required)PhoneResumeResume(Required)Max. file size: 100 MB.MessageDo you agree to receive text messages from Gables Search Group sent from View phone number on us.fitly.work & View phone number on us.fitly.work?
