Job Description
The Field Service Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable operation and restoration of the electric distribution system. This position focuses on timely response to outages and emergencies, coordination of field crews, and accurate maintenance of system records. Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce organizational Safety and Health programs across all dispatch operations, ensuring all activities follow established safety protocols.
• Follow all company and departmental procedures and policies to maintain compliance with operational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Uphold corporate compliance policies and demonstrate integrity and sound judgment in all dispatch-related decisions.
• Operate communication systems, including radios, phones, and digital platforms, to coordinate field crews and support efficient field operations.
• Monitor crew locations and job progress to optimize response times, resource allocation, and overall field efficiency.
• Dispatch service personnel to respond to outages, emergencies, and system abnormalities in a timely and organized manner.
• Authorize energizing and restoration of distribution facilities in accordance with safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Maintain accurate logs and records of outages, restoration activities, equipment status, and crew assignments.
• Track, identify, and report abnormal or defective equipment to ensure timely maintenance and prevent potential service disruptions.
• Provide professional technical customer support and service, effectively handling multiple programs and screens while maintaining high-quality customer interactions.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and field personnel to support continuous improvement in dispatch processes and service reliability.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or an associate's degree in electrical or electronic technology, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience in technical customer support and service, including successful multi-tasking and handling of multiple programs/screens.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications for documentation, communication, and reporting.
• Ability to work 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour shifts as required by operational needs.
• Ability to work rotating shifts on a week-to-week basis, including days, evenings, and nights.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and system monitoring.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating field activities and interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations.
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and ethical conduct in all aspects of the role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any previous experience in a related field, such as dispatch, utility operations, field service coordination, or technical support, is beneficial.
• Experience working with multiple communication systems (radios, phones, digital platforms) is advantageous.
• Experience in electrical or electronic technology provides additional value in understanding distribution systems and equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Customer service mindset with the ability to support both internal teams and external customers.

Work Environment
This role operates in a structured dispatch and control environment that supports a complex electric distribution system. The 2026 schedule follows a 14-week rotation that includes multiple shift types: 12-hour night shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (12N), 12-hour day shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (12D & NRO), 8-hour evening shifts from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (8 Eve), 10-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Reserve 1), and variable on-call shifts (R2/On Call), which are overtime when needed. During training, new team members work a day shift schedule of 40 hours per week, with overtime available if desired. The first two weeks of training are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by a schedule that aligns with the mentor's shifts up to 40 hours per week. Training typically lasts 12 to 16 weeks and provides thorough exposure to dispatch procedures, safety protocols, communication systems, and outage management processes. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.92/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
