Acute Care RN

The Acute Care RN works in a collaborative and cooperative relationship with other members of the health care team. The RN plans and implements patient and family education. The RN ensures patient safety and is responsible for assessing the needs of patients. The RN initiates appropriate interventions for patients. The RN collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. The RN analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues. The RN identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation. The RN develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes. The RN implements the identified plan of care. The RN employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. The RN systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. The RN attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice. The RN evaluates their own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines. The RN interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues. The RN collaborates with patients, families, and others in the conduct of nursing practice. The RN integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice. The RN integrates research findings into practice. Other duties may be assigned. The RN demonstrates sound judgment and maintains a professional demeanor at all times. The RN exercises tact, discretion, and sensitivity while maintaining confidentiality. The RN performs essential job functions successfully in a busy and stressful environment. The RN learns current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized in the work setting. The RN possesses strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. The RN analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work while meeting multiple deadlines. The RN may need to lift repeatedly up to 50 pounds. The RN may need to maintain a sitting posture for extended periods. The RN may be required to stand for extended periods. The RN may need to walk and move around within the work area. The RN may rarely need to climb. The RN may need to twist, bend, stoop, and kneel repeatedly. The RN may need to reach above shoulder level repeatedly. The RN may need to push or pull objects repeatedly. The RN performs fine-finger movements continuously. The RN requires close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data. The RN utilizes cognitive skills continuously to learn new tasks and maintain focus. The RN may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases. The RN may encounter emotionally challenging situations such as difficult patient interactions.
