Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40-45+ hours per week

Ultimate Staffing is partnering with a global logistics organization in the Belcamp, MD area to identify an experienced Account Manager to lead customer relationships within a fast-paced, high-volume international logistics environment .

This is a hands-on customer leadership role for someone who understands the complexities of global transportation and can confidently manage customer expectations while coordinating a significant volume of shipment activity. The ideal candidate has experience within freight forwarding, 3PL, global transportation, import/export, or a similarly high-volume logistics environment and is accustomed to balancing multiple customers, shipments, projects, and escalations simultaneously.

This is not a traditional warehouse, distribution, or transportation operations management position. The focus is on customer relationships, international freight, shipment execution, project ownership, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for customer accounts throughout the shipment lifecycle
• Manage customer relationships and expectations within a high-volume international shipping environment
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments, including ocean and air freight
• Provide proactive shipment updates and manage delays, exceptions, and customer escalations through resolution
• Work closely with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, vendors, overseas partners, and internal teams
• Coordinate multiple customer projects and shipment requirements simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and service levels
• Lead, support, and develop a small customer experience team of 2-3 employees
• Oversee import/export documentation and customs-related requirements
• Develop and maintain customer-specific processes, procedures, and SOPs
• Monitor shipment and account performance and identify opportunities to improve service and efficiency
• Coordinate multiple stakeholders to ensure customer requirements, project timelines, and delivery expectations are met
• Build strong, long-term customer relationships while serving as a knowledgeable and solutions-oriented logistics partner

Qualifications

• Strong experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, import/export, or global supply chain
• Demonstrated success operating within a high-volume logistics or freight environment
• Hands-on experience coordinating ocean and/or air freight
• Strong customer-facing experience managing accounts, key customers, or client relationships
• Experience working directly with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and other logistics partners
• Knowledge of international shipping documentation, customs processes, and import/export requirements
• Experience managing customer escalations and complex transportation issues
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including direct people management, training, mentoring, or team development
• Ability to manage multiple customer accounts, projects, and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with logistics, transportation, ERP, CRM, or supply chain management systems preferred

Preferred Experience

• Freight forwarding, 3PL, NVOCC, or global transportation environment
• Customer experience, account management, client services, or key account management within logistics
• High-volume international freight or customer portfolio management
• Air and ocean freight experience
• Import/export compliance and shipping documentation
• Customer implementation or project management experience
• Experience supporting customers and partners across multiple global regions

Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidate will bring a combination of international freight expertise, high-volume customer account management, strong communication skills, project ownership, and leadership experience .

This person should be comfortable staying close to the day-to-day customer experience while also leading a small team, navigating complex shipment issues, and coordinating multiple internal and external stakeholders to keep freight moving and customers informed.
