FSP Senior Metrologist

Senior Metrologist position at Thermo Fisher Scientific laboratory services team in New Brunswick, NJ. Leads maintenance, calibration, and optimization of advanced laboratory instruments while ensuring compliance with GMP and FDA requirements. Reports to Laboratory Services management.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and remedial maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Execute calibrations and qualifications including IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols on active instruments
• Oversee installation of new laboratory equipment and review vendor documentation
• Prepare and assist with standard operating procedures for instrument operation and maintenance
• Review compliance records, audit findings, and vendor-executed documents for accuracy and GMP adherence

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree or technical certificate preferred
• 4–6 years relevant experience in laboratory instrument maintenance and calibration
• Hands-on familiarity with balances, pipettes, and HPLC systems
• Demonstrated knowledge of cGMP, FDA regulations, and Good Documentation Practices
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data review for compliance
• Strong written and verbal communication with detail-oriented mindset
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
