Telemetry Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: EKG interpretation required. Medication titration required. Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Unit Details: Cardio-thoracic telemetry unit caring for patients with MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery patients with chest tubes, esophagectomy patients not fresh from PACU, and general medical overflow. Nurse-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6. Titrates drips mainly Cardizem and heparin. Uses Phillips telemetry monitors; monitor techs are available. 24/7 charge nurse rarely takes patients; house supervisor available 24/7. PCT support: days 1:8-9, evenings 1:9-10, nights 1:10-12. RNs may encounter CPAP, BiPAP if it is the patient’s home regimen, and heated high flow only in special circumstances with COVID patients.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; nights work Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. Holiday rotation required; nights include Memorial Day Eve, July 3rd, Labor Day Eve, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. No call at this time.

Floating Requirements: Float to other general medical units.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

1 reference required from within the last 3 years

Driver’s license required for submission
