ESS Long Term Substitute Teacher (SPED) Chelsea, MA – Chelsea Public Schools, Suffolk County Salary: $230.00 / Day Job Type: Substitute Long Term Substitute Teacher (SPED) An ESS Long-Term substitute teacher assists with classroom instruction in the extended absence of a regular teacher. This person follows and teaches lesson plans, aids students in understanding subject matter, and ensures that regular classroom routines are followed. Responsibilities Provide meaningful instruction to special education students in assigned classroom while regular teacher is on leave Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration Perform other duties as directed by school administration Qualifications Required A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education teacher licensure in grade and subject area appropriate for the assignment Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement for core content teachers Ability to work with diverse population Knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum, instruction, and assessment Knowledge of differentiated instruction and response to intervention helpful Citizenship, residency or work visa required Qualifications Preferred Bilingual Spanish Dual certification in ESL and/or Moderate Disabilities ESS is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
