Job Description

The Qualified Mental Health Professional/Mobile Crisis Responder (QMHP) provides community-based mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing behavioral health challenges. The QMHP assists individuals in developing skills necessary to improve functioning, maintain stability, access community resources, and achieve treatment goals. Services are provided in homes, schools, community settings, and agency locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Direct Service Delivery

• Provide Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSB), Community Stabilization, Crisis Intervention, Intensive In-Home Services, and other approved behavioral health services.
• Teach coping skills, emotional regulation, communication skills, problem-solving, and independent living skills.
• Support clients in accessing community resources.
• Provide crisis prevention and intervention services when necessary.

Documentation

• Complete progress notes, and discharge summaries within agency timeframes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with DBHDS, Medicaid, and agency requirements.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and case reviews.
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Professional Responsibilities

• Attend supervision and staff meetings.
• Maintain required certifications and trainings.
• Follow agency policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
• Maintain professional boundaries and conduct.

QMHP-A (Adult Services)

• Bachelor's degree in a human services field and
• At least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to adults with mental illness.
• Bachelor's degree in a human services field and
• At least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to children and adolescents with mental health needs.

Acceptable Human Services Degrees Include:

• Psychology
• Social Work
• Counseling
• Sociology
• Human Services
• Special Education
• Rehabilitation Counseling
• Marriage and Family Therapy
• Criminal Justice (with qualifying experience)
• Other related behavioral science fields

Preferred Qualifications

• Current QMHP registration through the Virginia Board of Counseling.
• Experience providing community-based behavioral health services.
• Knowledge of DBHDS and Medicaid regulations.
• Crisis intervention experience.
• Bilingual abilities preferred (but not required).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel throughout the service area.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
• Ability to work in community, home, and office environments.
• Must have own transportation

Required Certifications

• Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Successful Criminal Background Check.
• Successful Central Registry Check (if applicable).
• TB Screening (if required by agency policy).

Work Schedule

• Full-Time, Part-Time, or Contract (1099) positions available.
• Evening and weekend, overnight hours may be required.
• Community-based travel required.
