Clinical Assistant

Location: New York, NY 10017
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day | 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 40 Hours/Week
Local Candidates: Yes
Pay Rate: $18–$19/hr

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily physician team activities and patient flow.

• Assist with vital signs, rooming, mobility, specimen collection, and POC testing.

• Assist physicians with procedures.

• Perform phlebotomy and support patient registration.

• Maintain medical records, referrals, reports, forms, and charts in the EMR.

• Enter physician orders and prepare prescription refill requests.

• Schedule procedures and surgeries and assist with pre-admissions and consent forms.

• Update patient demographics and assist with insurance verification and pre-certification.

• Order and restock medical supplies and maintain required logs.

• Prepare examination rooms and instruments following infection-control procedures.

• Train and mentor Level I Medical Assistants.

• Help coordinate staff schedules and workflow based on patient volume.

• Follow PPE, safety, infection-control, HIPAA, and legal requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.

• 3 years of Medical Assistant experience; 5 years preferred.

• Medical Assistant certification from an approved school or equivalent training/experience.

• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.

• Phlebotomy experience.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.

• EMR and/or billing system experience preferred.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent telephone etiquette.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

• Ability to work effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.

• English: Read, Write, Speak.
