Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a 32-bed unit requiring 18 months of PCU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Job Details

• Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated hospital with 241 licensed beds, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center designation,
• 32-bed Progressive Care Unit,
• Patient population includes CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness/infection, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA, excluding patients requiring mechanical ventilation,
• RN to patient ratio typically 1:4, with possible increase to 1:5 depending on acuity,
• CNA ratios are 1:12 on days and 1:16 on nights,
• LPN ratio is 4:1 where applicable,
• Bedside and central station telemetry monitoring,
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors,
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week,
• Every other weekend rotation required,
• Possible low census call-back, up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days,
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice,

Job Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required,
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,
• Minimum 18 months of recent PCU RN experience required,
• Skills required include trach care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management,
• EPIC EMR experience required,
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required,
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to progressive care patients including monitoring, medication administration, and coordination with care team,
• Unit supported by CNAs for ADLs, daytime receptionist/HUC, charge nurse resource, phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage,
• Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation,
• Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of holidays,
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract,
• Schedule follows a 6-week cycle,
• Navy scrub color required,
