Medical Assistant

Hennepin Healthcare is hiring a Medical Assistant for our Mobile Clinic in Minneapolis. This is a grant-funded position (funded through June 30, 2027). This part-time Medical Assistant role will work eight shifts per pay period (8 hour shifts; includes potential evenings and rotating weekends). This benefit-eligible role is union represented and primarily works day shift. Opportunities for tuition reimbursement and advancement. Successful applicants must have a valid driver's license.

Under the direction/delegation of a physician(s) or other clinical care team members, the Medical Assistant contributes to the health and well-being of patients by providing quality and competent patient & family centered care/services that meet HCMC and departmental standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform assigned clinical tasks under the direction of a physician or other providers (ie, Nurse Practitioners) including: administer medications, injections, and immunizations, spirometry, tympanometry, apply minor dressings and splints, connect patients to portable monitors e.g. pulse oximetry, nebulization, glucose monitoring, and urethral catheterization and other clinical duties as delegated within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
• Set up for and provide direct assistance to physicians and other licensed care providers with medical examinations and procedures including: colposcopy, flex sigmoidoscopy, minor surgery
• Perform specimen collection including: blood draws, sputum samples and urine samples
• Perform hearing and vision screens and developmental testing
• Review patient information as required by the rooming process and competently enter information into the patient medical record
• Perform basic patient care activities including: place patients in rooms, take and chart vital signs
• Performs other duties as assigned
