Senior Contract Specialist Location: Washington, DC -- Near Farragut West Metro Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:30 PM Employment Type: Long-Term Opportunity, through Aug 2027 possibly longer Citizenship Requirement: U.S.Citizenship Required Position Overview A Federal Agency in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Senior Contract Specialist for a long-term opportunity.This position is ideal for a highly skilled contracting professional with extensive experience managing complex federal and commercial procurements, including construction contracts.The Senior Contract Specialist will independently manage complex, non-standardized procurement requirements and provide technical guidance and expertise to other members of the contracting team.The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, and resolving complex contractual and procurement matters. Required Qualifications 10years of Contract Specialist experience Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Management, Economics, Mathematics, English, Government, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. U.S.Citizenship required Strong knowledge of federal contracting and procurement regulations, laws, policies, standards, and best practices Experience with government and commercial statutes, regulations, contracting principles, solicitation requirements, and procurement practices Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with vendors, agency personnel, and internal stakeholders Ability to interpret and prepare procurement-related materials ranging from moderate to highly complex Ability to manage multiple assignments, competing priorities, and deadlines Strong technical, interpersonal, and customer-service skills Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Required Certification Candidates must possess one of the following certifications or an equivalent: PMP (Project Management Professional) FAC-C (Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting) FAC-P/PM (Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers) DAWIA equivalent certification Key Responsibilities Manage complex, non-standardized, and highly varied procurement requirements Develop and administer contracts for complex acquisitions, including construction contracts Develop contract specifications, solicitations, and procurement documentation Plan and conduct a broad range of contracting activities independently Lead and participate in contract negotiations Analyze complex contract requirements and recommend appropriate procurement strategies Resolve technical, contractual, and procurement-related issues Coordinate the requirements of multiple end users and stakeholders Address and resolve contract disputes, problems, and performance issues Provide technical guidance and support to other contracting staff Interpret and apply applicable contracting laws, regulations, policies, and procedures Maintain a strong customer-service focus while ensuring compliance with applicable procurement requirements Exercise sound independent judgment when handling complex contracting matters Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced contracting professional who can work independently, analyze complex procurement requirements, communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and confidently navigate challenging contractual issues .This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and customer service.
