Food & Beverage Assistant Manager

Job Description The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the overall success of our diverse food and beverage operations. Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, this position oversees daily operations across all F&B outlets, ensuring exceptional guest service, managing staff, and contributing to profitability. Key Responsibilities Supervise day‑to‑day function of all restaurant employees, facilities, sales, and costs. Analyze quality levels of production, guest satisfaction (VOG), employee satisfaction (EES), operating costs, sanitation, cleanliness, and hygiene. Maintain effective employee relations. Conduct candidate interviews, hiring, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, and suspension as necessary. Attend and contribute to weekly food and beverage departmental meetings. Perform cleaning inspections to ensure compliance with health standards and hotel cleanliness standards. Participate in service as required, adhering to restaurant practices. Ensure grooming and appearance standards are met. Control stocks for daily use to meet service requirements. Ensure all health and safety procedures and policies are followed. Assist in preparation of the food and beverage department budget and goals. Complete administrative tasks: schedules, cleaning and maintenance logbooks, opening/closing duties, cleaning checklists. Track and compile monthly sales statistics and other reports as needed. Contribute to hotel committees and events. Maintain safe standards, hygiene, and prevention measures. Adhere to alcohol handling procedures and LQA standards. Work weekends, holidays, and shift schedules as required. Undertake any other tasks as assigned. Team Management Motivate, supervise, and discipline team members. Recruit, interview, and onboard new employees. Identify and develop high‑potential team members. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback. Monitor appearance, professionalism, and attitude of all team members. Develop and maintain training programs aligned with business needs. Create weekly schedules based on business levels and budget guidelines. Prepare payroll and gratuity reports accurately and on time. Lead monthly departmental meetings to share updates and address operational concerns. Other Responsibilities Maintain complete knowledge of all F&B services, contents, preparation methods, outlets, and hotel services/features. Be well‑versed in hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures. Attend all briefings, meetings, and trainings assigned by management. Report for duty on time wearing clean and complete uniform. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene. Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management of the Hotel. Respond professionally, politely, and efficiently to extraordinary requests and complaints from guests. Operational Leadership Supervise daily venue operations to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction. Act as the point of contact for all venue‑related matters during shift coverage. Maintain and uphold Fairmont and LQA standards, consistently delivering a luxury experience. Benefits $33.00/hour. Employee travel program with discounted rates in Fairmont’s and Accor worldwide. Qualifications – Experience and Skills Diploma in Hospitality Management/Food & Beverage preferred. Additional certification(s) in Food & Beverage an advantage. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity. Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English. Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages is an advantage. Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint. MAST & Food Handler’s Certification. Competencies Strong interpersonal and training skills and good communication and customer contact skills. Service oriented with an eye for detail. Ability to work well in stressful & high‑pressure situations. A team player & builder. Well‑presented and professionally groomed at all times. Physical Aspects of Position Constant standing and walking throughout the shift. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
