Pharmacy Billing Specialist Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Billing Specialist I to support healthcare reimbursement and pharmacy billing operations. This position is responsible for qualifying, preparing, and submitting claims while working with healthcare facilities, pharmacy operations, prescriber offices, insurance carriers, patients, and claim processors.

The ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare reimbursement, medical or pharmacy billing, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pharmacy Billing Specialist Key Responsibilities

• Qualify, prepare, and submit claims to Medicare Part B, Major Medical, and Medicaid .
• Work with LTC facility staff, pharmacy operations teams, prescriber offices, third-party payers, patients, and responsible parties.
• Review unbilled claims and work accounts toward timely payment and resolution.
• Use multiple operating systems and web-based programs to retrieve document images and supporting information.
• Research fills and obtain additional information needed to process claims.
• Work claims through resolution while maintaining compliant, accurate, and timely billing practices.
• Communicate professionally with patients, healthcare professionals, insurance carriers, and internal teams.
• Prioritize daily billing tasks and maintain accurate records.

Pharmacy Billing Specialist Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare reimbursement, medical insurance billing, pharmacy billing, or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with healthcare reimbursement systems .
• Pharmacy billing experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Highly detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook .
• Basic computer skills and good typing ability.
• High school diploma or GED required

Pharmacy Billing Specialist I Excel Skills

Candidates should be comfortable using Microsoft Excel for routine billing and administrative tasks. Please be prepared to discuss your level of Excel experience and the functions or tasks you are comfortable performing.

Work Schedule & Location

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
• Position is based in Monroeville, PA .
• Candidates must live within approximately 1 hour of the Monroeville office .
• Hybrid work may be available based on performance and business needs.
• This is not a patient-facing position.
• Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
