Why does the job exist?

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing coordination and administrative support for contracting processes using injury and violence prevention funds. The Contracts Coordinator will assist with development of contracts in coordination with the program staff, the Division contract officer, and program support staff, will track Office of Injury and Violence Prevention contracts, invoices, and budget balances, and may provide support to develop and process Requests for Proposals and other New Mexico State Procurement processes as requested. The coordinator will engage in professional development trainings related to New Mexico State Procurement to assist the section with working knowledge of contracting processes. The incumbent will implement business process improvements as needed. The chosen candidate will work as part of team with managers, prevention coordinators, evaluators, and epidemiologists in the Office of Injury and Violence Prevention, along with Bureau and Division staff as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

Experience with devising tracking systems for contracts, invoices and other financial documents. Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to think critically and develop problem solving approaches Ability to lead multiple complex, long-term projects with shifting priorities.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Some statewide travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation for work-related travel.
