Job Title: Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience - Must be able to titrate drips, including Heparin, nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and insulin - Ability to read telemetry strips, with support from remote technicians Description: This position is in a medical surgical unit focused on post-surgical care. Common diagnoses include orthopedic, urological, gynecological/oncological, neurosurgical, vascular surgical, ENT, plastic surgery, and gastrointestinal conditions. Acute medical patients may also be admitted with a short anticipated length of stay. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day shift and 1:5-6 during the night shift. Charge nurses take assignments while a house supervisor is present on all shifts. Nursing assistants are available for support, with a ratio of 1:8-12. Respiratory therapy support is present, but no vents are utilized in this unit. Nurses are required to float to other adult medical/surgical units as needed. Shifts are scheduled without self-scheduling, and block scheduling is attempted based on staffing needs. Every other weekend and holiday commitment is required. Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
