Restorative Justice Manager (York/Cumberland) Restorative Justice Project Maine is hiring an RJ Manager position to primarily work in York and Cumberland counties. Position Overview Restorative Justice Manager utilizes strong organizational and people skills to facilitate the day-to-day implementation of community-based restorative justice practices, primarily for youth harm repair referrals. Working closely with colleagues, trained volunteers, and community partners, the Restorative Justice Manager plays a dynamic and central role in facilitating restorative responses that promote justice, safety, and wellbeing for all. As well as working with individuals who have been harmed or caused harm, and those closest to them, Restorative Justice Managers engage a variety of community stakeholders. This includes working with community volunteers, corrections, victim advocates, school partners, and community service providers in the planning and implementation of restorative processes. This position will also be responsible for building relationships and representing RJP with new partners in York and Cumberland counties. RJP Maine uses a team-based approach to case management distribution. Managers are assigned to primary counties, with the expectation that travel to outside counties for case management may be required as determined by team capacity. RJ Managers are also responsible for an assigned focus area beyond harm repair case management. These are identified based on the candidates’ interests and experience, as well as programmatic needs. Responsibilities Case Management Build and participate in staff and volunteer facilitator teams capable of running impactful restorative harm repair processes for each youth referral Manage case preparation, harm repair process and tools, ongoing case support, and closing procedures Perform administrative responsibilities, such as timely documentation of outreach, communications, and progress of each case Leverage harm repair procedures and tools to support multiple cases at once Utilize case management and volunteer management databases Attend juvenile court to receive incoming referrals and support existing referrals with adjudication Additional relevant tasks, as needed Harm Repair Facilitation Facilitate restorative processes for youth harm repair referrals including processes designed to: respond to instances of interpersonal harm or conflict, offer healing and support, and build community Facilitate individual sessions with various participants to prepare and support them throughout the process from intake to closing Participate in relationship building, training, skill-building, and appreciating community members who volunteer in the harm repair program Collaborate with and support facilitation needs for the organization as needed Specialized Focus Area Focus areas reflect primary areas of responsibility beyond harm repair case management and are identified and evaluated collaboratively on an ongoing basis. These are based on the candidate’s interests and experience, as well as programmatic needs. Examples could include (but are not limited to): community building and engagement, school liaison, data and reporting, and volunteer support. Desired Skills and Experience Previous knowledge or experience with restorative mindset and practice, conflict resolution, harm repair, or other dispute resolution practices Effective written and oral communication skills Willingness to express and encourage vulnerability, self-reflection, and growth through reflection Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and supportively with people from diverse backgrounds and identities Familiarity with criminal legal system processes, ACES/trauma-informed care, resilience-building strategies, strengths-based approaches, and/or group and family dynamics Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with strong and timely attention to detail and follow-through Computer proficiency and willingness to learn appropriate software and technology Ability to maintain healthy boundaries and practice self-care Motivated by the opportunity to serve and support individuals and communities using restorative practices Flexibility to adjust to the needs of our clients, partners, and organization, including willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and the occasional weekend Restorative Justice Project Maine is committed to providing a workplace of diversity and inclusion. As a matter of policy, RJP conducts background checks for all prospective employees and volunteers. However, we believe having a criminal history should not discourage people from seeking and obtaining gainful employment and those with criminal histories are encouraged to apply. Additional Details While work is occasionally remote, the work for this position primarily takes place in RJP Maine’s county-based offices in York County (primary, location still being determined), Lewiston, and community locations in our service area. Case referrals for facilitators will be geographically informed but not geographically bound; occasional travel outside of York and Cumberland counties for case management is expected.
