ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED

We are seeking an adaptable, ever-curious Linux / Systems Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will take ownership of core Linux environments, virtualized infrastructure, cloud-native container platforms, and mission-critical network systems.

As an engineer at Nyla, you won't just keep systems running—you will safeguard their security posture, streamline storage and network configurations, and automate processes wherever possible. You will play a vital role in maintaining strict System Security Plan (SSP) compliance and supporting STE/STN standards across Linux infrastructure. If you thrive on deep technical troubleshooting, enjoy mastering cryptographic configurations (PKI/TLS), and bring a collaborative mindset to application and infrastructure support, Team Nyla is looking for you.

The annual base salary range for this role is $133,000-$157,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

, Required Skills

Linux Administration: Deep, hands-on mastery of Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) across setup, maintenance, hardening, and performance tuning.

Containers Cloud: Applied experience operating within containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and enterprise cloud architectures.

Virtualization Storage: Strong working knowledge of virtualized infrastructure (e.g., VMware, KVM) and enterprise storage management.

Networking Firewalls: Practical understanding of IP networking concepts, routing, and hands-on firewall configuration/management.

PKI / TLS / Cryptography: Solid grasp of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), TLS certificates, encryption protocols, and OS-level crypto policies.

Compliance Security: Demonstrated experience maintaining SSP compliance and supporting STE/STN guidelines on Linux systems.

Troubleshooting: Strong system-level and application-level diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 7+ years of professional software development experience OR  High School Diploma / GED , PLUS 11+ years of hands-on technical software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.

, Desired Skills

Experience using infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Python/Bash scripting.

Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Experience in cross-domain environments and high-security defense networks.
