Job Title: Welder – Aerospace Tooling and Fixture Fabrication

Job Description

This role focuses on fabricating and modifying fixtures, stands, and tooling that support aerospace maintenance and component overhaul operations. You will apply advanced MIG and TIG welding skills on stainless steel and aluminum, working from blueprints and general fabrication outlines to produce safe, precise, and reliable structures used on and around aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Develop and fabricate fixtures, stands, jigs, and tooling that support aircraft and component maintenance operations.
• Interpret blueprints and general outlines to weld aerospace stainless steel and aluminum to industry and blueprint specifications.
• Perform MIG welding, including aluminum bead in vertical, horizontal, and flat positions, primarily on square tubing.
• Set up MIG welding machines and other equipment based on the material type and thickness.
• Prepare parts for welding by cutting, blending, chamfering, and cleaning to ensure proper fit-up and weld quality.
• Use welding rigs, plasma cutters, bandsaws, grinders, and related shop tools safely and effectively.
• Fabricate components without detailed drawings, using instructions and guidance from the fabrication shop supervisor.
• Prepare welded parts for post-weld inspection processes such as dye penetrant testing, X-ray inspection, and chemical treatments.
• Modify tented stands and platforms
• Perform repairs on equipment such as aluminum ladders and other shop or hangar tools as needed.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to shop and hangar safety protocols.
• Collaborate closely with the fabrication shop supervisor to understand daily tasks, goals, and fabrication requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and care for tools, machines, and welding equipment.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in TIG welding on aluminum, including consistent, high-quality welds.
• Proficiency in MIG welding on stainless steel, including vertical, horizontal, and flat positions.
• Ability to work from general fabrication outlines.
• Ability to fabricate components based on verbal instruction and guidance from a supervisor
• Hands-on experience using welding rigs, plasma cutters, bandsaws, grinders, and related fabrication equipment.
• Comfort working from heights while using a safety harness.
• Capability to prepare parts for welding, including cutting, blending, chamfering, and cleaning.
• Understanding of basic post-weld inspection preparation, including dye penetrant, X-ray, and chemical treatment processes.
• Ownership of appropriate welding PPE, including hood and leathers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience fabricating aerospace tooling, fixtures, or stands is beneficial.
• Familiarity with welding and fabrication in a hangar or industrial maintenance environment is an advantage.
• Experience with 3G welding positions is helpful.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with a fabrication supervisor.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt fabrication approaches based on available instructions and materials.
• Interest in expanding skills into specialized aircraft welding through on-the-job training.

Work Environment

The schedule is a day shift, Monday through Friday, with a typical start time of 06:00. There is ample work to support a full 40-hour week, primarily focused on modifying stands and jigs and repairing equipment such as aluminum ladders, with the flexibility to complete core tasks in roughly 30 hours per week if preferred. Appropriate welding attire, including hood and leathers, is required to ensure safety and protection in the shop and hangar settings

This is a Contract position based out of Everett, WA.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Everett,WA.
