ABOUT THIS ROLE

This essential position, based in New York City, will report to the Chief of Strategic Projects, Development and Growth, Corporate & Finance, and will be the M&BD lead for the Americas across our Banking & Loan Finance and Derivatives practice areas. The role will have primary responsibility for M&BD support to the Americas Banking & Loan Finance practice, including its significant Fund Finance, Real Estate Finance, Leveraged Finance, and Private Credit platform and related events and initiatives, while also providing dedicated support to the Derivatives practice. This individual will work closely with the global and local M&BD teams, along with key U.S. partner leads, to develop and implement M&BD plans in line with the wider business plan and objectives. More specifically, this individual will work in conjunction with the Chief of Strategic Projects, Development and Growth, Corporate & Finance to ensure a structured approach to client development and targeting, pitching, profile raising, and marketing campaigns.

Identifying and driving synergies between practice, client, and industry sector teams in the Americas will be an important part of the role. The ability to develop a deep understanding of multiple practice areas, to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, and to collaborate and communicate well with partners, lawyers and colleagues alike in a manner that builds trust and confidence is also paramount. The successful candidate will be expected to operate as a senior, hands-on business development partner to the practices, moving seamlessly between strategic planning and direct execution as needed.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

• Partner with firm leadership to develop and execute business development strategies, launch new client initiatives, and drive sustainable growth.
• Lead the M&BD strategy and day-to-day business development support for the Banking & Loan Finance and Derivatives practices, including practice planning, lateral attorney integration, partner business development, cross-selling and priority practice initiatives.
• Lead the strategy, planning and delivery of key client-facing events, conferences and sponsorships, working closely with partners and the Events team to ensure these activities support broader practice and client-development objectives
• Translate market intelligence, industry trends, and competitive insights into actionable strategies that enhance the firm's positioning and uncover new opportunities.
• Provide strategic guidance and hands-on support to partners and the M&BD team in responding to high-impact pitches and RFPs by aligning client needs, competitive positioning, and differentiated firm value propositions.
• Support strategic client engagements and meetings by identifying growth opportunities, refining messaging, and developing tailored client strategies.
• Drive collaboration across sectors, practices, and regions by promoting best practices, knowledge sharing, and consistent operating standards.
• Lead strategic projects and special initiatives that advance the firm's practice objectives and strengthen overall business development effectiveness.
• Support the development and implementation of annual practice plans and budgets, helping establish priorities, track progress and evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of key M&BD activities.
• Continuously evaluate and enhance processes, operating models, and ways of working to improve efficiency, scalability, and impact.
• Contribute to broader M&BD priorities and strategic initiatives as directed by the Chief of Strategic Projects, Development and Growth, C&F.

• Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy, excellent writing skills, and an exacting attention to detail in all work products.
• Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
• Experience of working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Ten (10)+ years of relevant experience preferred, ideally in the legal or professional services industry.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, and post-graduate qualifications (e.g. MBA) advantageous.

WORK SCHEDULE & HOURS EXPECTATIONS

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The role requires flexibility to work the hours necessary to effectively perform job responsibilities and meet business, client, and team needs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In New York, the expected base salary range for this role is $204,590 - $255,680 per year.

This range reflects a good-faith estimate of pay at the time of posting; the actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications. This position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, which may include annual discretionary bonuses. Employees in this role are also eligible for benefits offered by the firm, subject to applicable plan terms and conditions, which currently include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; and paid time off.
