Job Full Description

1st shift and 2nd shift Welder needed in Ozaukee County

Job Purpose: The welder uses hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill, holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.

Essential Job Functions:

Operates equipment safely and uses safe work habits while performing his job function.
Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
Ignites torches or starts power supplies and strikes arc by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits
Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective material and notifies supervisor.
Clamps, holds, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolts component parts to obtain required configuration and positions for welding.
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
Follow all company policies and procedures as applicable to the position
Follow all clean-up & housekeeping procedures (5S)

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of gauges to check parts (micrometers, calipers, protractors and square)
Basic shop math skills and high school level math
Basic English
Ability to read drawings
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
