Lead Software Engineer - Data Governance

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Strong expertise in data engineering fundamentals, including ETL/ELT development, data integration patterns, and distributed processing.
• Demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting, with clear expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Solid understanding of responsible AI usage in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and compliance with resilience and security expectations.
• Experience coaching engineers on safe and compliant adoption of AI-assisted practices within delivery workflows.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture and modeling approaches, including dimensional modeling and database design such as normalization and denormalization.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks SQL.
• Proven experience with Snowflake, including virtual warehouse tuning, data sharing, and platform security features.
• Proficiency with AWS, especially S3 for data lake implementations, including bucket policies, lifecycle management, and service integrations.
• Strong working knowledge of Teradata, including query tuning, workload management, and migration methods to modern cloud platforms.
• Expert-level data modeling capability across conceptual, logical, and physical models using industry-standard methods.
• Experience with tools such as Erwin, PowerDesigner, or similar.
• Ability to design transactional and analytical models aligned to business needs.
• Advanced ability to profile data, identify quality issues, and implement quality rules and monitoring frameworks.
• Experience implementing data quality capabilities that address accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.

• Implement and maintain end-to-end data governance solutions that operationalize enterprise data standards, policies, and procedures.
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• Establish consistent validation standards, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, while promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
• Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle tooling, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation.
• Create and maintain enterprise data models across conceptual, logical, and physical layers that reflect business processes and support analytics.
• Define, document, and maintain metadata standards, including business glossary and data dictionary assets, to support consistent data interpretation and usage.
• Implement and administer data catalog capabilities and ensure lineage tracking from source systems through transformation to consumption.
• Build and maintain governed ETL/ELT pipelines and patterns aligned with governance requirements.
• Implement technical data quality controls, including profiling, rule definition, monitoring, and issue remediation workflows.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across architecture, analytics, and compliance to ensure governance controls are adopted and sustainable.
