Underwriter

Overview We are hiring entry‑level underwriters to work with advisors and clients, underwriting insurance applications within strict guidelines up to $2,000,000.00 of life insurance face amount and $5,000.00 of monthly benefits on disability insurance. Responsibilities Receive and review applications from advisors to determine insurability and risk categorization for appropriate premium and rating class. Review and assess medical and non‑medical requirements. Collaborate with the medical director, coach, leadership, and peers to determine insurability. Actively manage a case load of over 250 applications. Communicate with field force to gather financial and medical information, convey underwriting risk assessments, and assist throughout the underwriting process. Travel to field offices and present via Microsoft Teams, conference calls, or other technology to coach and train advisors and build relationships with financial advisors. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 1–3 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated analytical and decision‑making skills. Must work on site 3 days per week at Minneapolis headquarters for 3–6 months of training; remote thereafter. Visa: applicants must have valid work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship for employment in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Working toward or holding designations such as FALU, CLU, FLMI, ChFC, etc. Organizing and prioritizing work. Comprehending complex information. Communicating effectively with advisors, clients, and co‑workers. Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate: $26.15 – $35.96 per hour. Pay is performance‑based and may include variable pay (bonus, commissions, and/or long‑term incentives) depending on role. Benefits include vacation time, sick time, 401(k), health, dental, and life insurance.
