Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. In this role, you will provide exceptional one-on-one assistance to clients in the comfort of their own home while ensuring their safety and well-being to promote a vibrant quality of life. Your proactive approach will help create a nurturing environment where individuals thrive physically, emotionally, and socially.

Duties

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, bathing and mobility assistance

• Monitor residents health by observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly

• Assist with medication administration and ensure compliance with care plans tailored to each client's needs

• Address occupational and speech therapy goals effectively

• Participate with individuals in the community not limited to social and recreational activities

• Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and care plans

• Awareness of ABA best practices and techniques such as positive reinforcement

• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal consumption to meet individual dietary needs

• Maintain a clean, safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation of living spaces

Requirements

• Prior Direct Support Professional experience and functional engagement with individuals that have Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. (In-home, Live-in, hospice care, or long-term care settings highly preferred)

• Experience with medication administration, seizure protocol, CPR certification required or obtainable upon hire

• Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs

• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality

• Ability to lift heavy objects safely using proper manual handling techniques; physical stamina for long shifts necessary

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members

• Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges

• Ability to follow detailed care plans and adapt to changing needs of residents

• Valid driver’s license for client transportation assistance preferred
