Inpatient Registered Nurse (PCU/Step-Down)

Emerus Inpatient RN OpportunityChristianaCare Aston Hospital is seeking Inpatient RNs who are clinically strong, adaptable, and able to manage a higher-acuity patient population in a fast-paced micro-hospital environment. This role requires experience with critical drips, cardiac rhythm recognition, respiratory support, and collaboration through Teams and Telemedicine platforms. Candidates must be comfortable supporting short-term stabilization of critically ill patients—including ventilated patients—while awaiting transfer to a higher level of care. Scheduling expectations include weekend coverage, holiday rotation and defined PRN availability requirements to support safe staffing and patient care needs.Essential Job FunctionsPlan, prioritize, and provide proficient, age-specific and developmentally/specialty appropriate nursing care by applying advanced specialty clinical nursing knowledge and skills and for ensuring the comfort and safety of patients/familiesFollow physician's orders in the delivery of nursing careMaintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all timesAdhere to required infection control, isolation procedures and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient careCollect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulationsPerform admission, discharge and transfer proceduresAssemble equipment and supplies for various diagnostic or treatment procedures in the specialty service area; perform or assist others with procedures or treatmentsHandle care in accordance with legal, hospital/facility, departmental policies and procedures, and established standards of nursing care and practice, as defined by the Board of Nursing for that State.Other Job FunctionsPerform all Quality Assessment activities assigned and documentAttend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as requiredPerform additional duties as assignedBasic QualificationsAssociate's Degree or Nursing Diploma required; BSN, preferredCurrent state licensure as a Registered Nurse without sanctions, required2+ years full-time RN experience in Telemetry/ICU, or 2+ years combination experience in related healthcare positions, requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, required; PALS strongly preferred (ENPC certification from ENA may be substituted for PALS certification)Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communicationPennsylvania RN's: Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance), Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) completed within the last 5 years, or must be obtained prior to start date.
