Duties

Help

As a Logistics Management Specialist at the GS-0346-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Provides logistics expertise for programs in contracted air, surface or ground assets.
  • Provides guidance on performance, efficiency and use of best business practices across transportation, distribution and logistics related organizations.
  • Provides functional program management for commercially contracted transportation capabilities to include but not limited to; Next Generation Delivery Service (NGDS) and Global Heavyweight Service (GHS) Program.
  • Researches and analyzes transportation policy, doctrine, public laws, rules and their regulatory documents for purpose of establishing new policies and procedures.
  • Develops and presents issues in oral and written form, e.g. briefings, requirements documents or staff studies providing program and project status, accomplishments, problems, requirements for support and promotion of objectives to senior military officers and civilians in other offices of the command and other organizations.

  • Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606.
Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Researches and analyzes transportation policy, doctrine, public laws, rules and their regulatory documents for purpose of establishing new policies and procedures.
  • Gather and analyze shipping data to measure contract performance/compliance, support customer inquiries, category management reports and best value determinations.
  • Represents a Command on distribution and logistics issues at meetings and conferences both within the command and at outside agencies; and serves as a senior representative and spokesperson in communicating program and project matters.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
