In this vital position as a Hospice Physician, you will be responsible for delivering compassionate, goal-oriented care to hospice patients while adhering to the highest medical standards. Your role will involve working closely with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.

Note: This is a job notification only. The Hospice Physician will not be employed by our organization. Instead, the physician will invoice for the services provided.

• Certify and recertify hospice eligibility, ensuring compliance with Medicare and other regulations in a timely manner.
• Conduct and oversee face-to-face patient consultations, including home visits for complex cases.
• Coordinate 24/7 on-call physician coverage with other hospice physicians.
• Maintain precise and timely medical documentation to support regulatory reviews.
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings to coordinate patient care and manage medications.
• Monitor pharmacy usage to ensure appropriate prescribing and administration of medications.
• Collaborate with hospice leadership on policy formulation, compliance, and quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
• Serve as a liaison within the community to enhance hospice visibility and partnerships with healthcare providers.
• Support educational initiatives for staff, physicians, and community partners.

• Doctorate in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in a specialty recognized by ABMS or AOA-BOS, preferably in primary care.
• Current and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
• Valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) and DEA registration for controlled substances.
• Preferred certifications include Hospice and Palliative Medicine board certification and/or Hospice Medical Director Certification Board certification.
• Current Medicare Provider Enrollment (PECOS) and Medicaid certification as required.
• Willingness to travel 15-25% based on program needs.
• CPR and TB clearance are mandatory.

• Leadership and mentorship abilities to motivate interdisciplinary teams and enhance patient care.
• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple priorities and regulatory obligations.
• Compassionate communication and empathy for patients and families facing end-of-life challenges.
• Proficient in navigating healthcare compliance, quality improvement, and ethical considerations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with attending physicians, staff, and community healthcare providers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
