Registered Nurse (RN) | Rheumatology Clinic

Location: Avera Rheumatology, Sioux Falls. Worker Type: Regular. Work Shift: Day Shift (United States of America). Pay Range: $27.75 - $41.25 per hour (actual pay depends on experience). Position Highlights Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; 64 hours per 2 weeks Eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program: up to $10,000 and $167 monthly extra if program conditions met. Overview Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. Communicates with physicians and other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care. Responsibilities Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Coordinates patient care activities for the clinic. Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients. Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to treatments to provider. Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations; maintains timely flow of patients. Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination; screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining health history, taking vitals, and conducting a nursing assessment. Documents obtained information in patient chart. Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests. Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician. Educates patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness. Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints. Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials; ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed. Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed. Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing; active license in the state of practice upon hire. Must be able to work the specified hours and perform each essential job function satisfactorily, including visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
