Underwriting Assistant

The Underwriting Assistant I supports the underwriter with the initial risk review, rating and report ordering process. They ensure proper workflow assignments, and process new and renewal business including endorsements within required time standards. They are members of the Help Desk team fielding agents’ calls and questions. Additionally, they will follow up for outstanding underwriting requests from agents as needed. Job Responsibilities: Knowledge of online Agent Rating system, in-house computer rating systems, and can rate manually. Knowledge of ImageRight including electronic workflows. Orders underwriting Reports – APLUS loss reports, MVR’s, inspections, roof reports and audits. Reviews and processes issuance of New Business within authority. Reviews and processes failed Personal Lines renewals within authority. Reviews inspections and emails out on recommendations. Reviews and processes monetary and non-monetary Endorsements within authority. Assesses and handles Undeliverable Mail. Forwards to UA or UW with higher authority requests that are above their authority for approval. Back-up receptionist duties, as needed Performs other related duties as required or assigned. Is expected to keep confidential all information obtained during course of employment. Job Competencies Oral and Written Communication Problem Solving/Decision Making Customer Service Planning, Organizing and Time Management Results Oriented Teamwork Adaptability Computer Skills- Excel and Word Work Experience: 2 to 5 years insurance rating and policy processing experience or 2 to 3 Years Experience as an agency CSR. Education or Equivalent Experience: High School Degree required with 3 or more years of insurance company experience.
