Outpatient Service Rep III

Job Summary Greets patients and conducts daily interactions in a way that demonstrates a positive organizational attitude modeling the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Professionally interviews patients obtaining complete and accurate financial and insurance information. Verifies required authorizations as needed. Professionally answers telephone calls and routes them to the appropriate party. Acts as a liaison between the facility, physicians, insurance companies, and other healthcare agencies. Handles collections of monies from patients at the time of registration. Observes strict confidentiality in dealing with patients and patient information. Schedules patient appointments and procedures. Verifies pain management benefits, insurance coverage, and obtains authorization for all visits and/or special procedures for Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Systems. Capable of assuming supervisory role in absence of office manager. Excels in customer service. Department Urgent Care Center_UPA Required Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service setting Preferred Qualifications Previous college or vocational training Ability to type 30-40 words per minute Knowledge of medical terminology and third‑party payers, and computer literacy with Windows‑based programs Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; meet and communicate with the public in a courteous and professional manner; and handle difficult customers or situations Ability to function in multiple tasks, prioritize duties and demonstrate initiative and self‑direction Mandatory Education High School Diploma, GED or Certificate Preferred Education Required License and Certs Preferred License And Certs Work Hours & Locations Our urgent care centers are open 7 days a week, 8am-8pm. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are required. Shifts can vary from 8 hour shifts to 10 and 12 hour shifts. Flexibility to work at all 7 of our urgent care locations is also required; however, schedule location preferences will be taken into consideration.
