Foreman

Our client is expanding rapidly and looking to add to its growing team. You will be a valuable part of our Low Voltage Division where you will actively participate in leading crews and performing installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of low voltage projects across several commercial industries in the state of Utah and surrounding Intermountain Region. The basic function of the Foreman is to direct and coordinate field activities of cabling and installation projects, in a manner that meets prescribed company policies, procedures, and meets the profit goals of the company. A Foreman is expected to be a manager, a self-starter and problem solver. They should be able to work independently, seeking advice only when necessary and be able to work without direction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

•Arrives at work on time and ready to work at the job site.

•Makes it understood by all employees that safety is the number one concern, in all phases of work.

•Understands that they are often the voice and face of the company and ensures that the company is always well represented – this includes appearance, conversation, work ethics and cleanliness of the work area.

•Coach, encourage, and train employees to develop them to their full potential.

•Provides clear and concise instructions and information to the technicians that he works with to accomplish the required tasks for the day to ensure the success and profitability of the project.

•Calls the Project Manager by 2 PM to advise of availability of or need for labor the next day and any additional parts and inventory needed to complete the project.

•Has all the tools needed to perform the function of technician and Foreman, as per company policy.

•Interprets and follows specifications, schematics, and job orders. Understands the full scope of work prior to starting any job and effectively conveys that information to subordinates.

Demonstrate that you can make discretionary decisions when on the job that will improve quality, efficiency, or profitability of the project for the customer. Essentially, you have the freedom to be flexible and make game time decisions if they don’t have a negative impact on the customer or our client. In other words, you don’t have to follow the print to a T.

•Is directly responsible for the performance of the employees working on his crew, this includes subcontractors working under his supervision. He ensures that they work the required time daily and that the jobs are completed with the highest quality of workmanship and in the safest possible environment.

•Analyzes and resolves work problems and/or assists others in solving work problems.

•Ensures that work is performed in accordance with local codes.

•Establishes and maintains a high level of job site performance through effective project management, efficient scheduling, delegation and close coordination of material, equipment, and labor.

•Ensures that all company policies and procedures are maintained and uniformly enforced and that hourly time on a job is entered promptly by everyone on the job.

•Ensures that all inventory transferred from the warehouse or van is applied to the job.

•Ensures that all requests for extra work are forwarded to the office, even when there is no cost change.

•Ensures that job sites are kept neat and clean during the project and are thoroughly cleaned at the end of a project.

•Always maintains a current set of specs and drawings on the job site.

•Receives and checks-in materials and forewords packing slips, bills of lading and other shipping and receive paperwork promptly. Advises the office immediately of any shortages and clearly notes shortages on the paperwork before signing it.

•Returns unused inventory to the shop promptly and identifies it (labels it) and logs it in, so it can be returned and credited to the job.

•Attends post-project meetings with the Management Team to evaluate performance and profitability of the job.

•Evaluates operations on an on-going basis to identify opportunities for cost effective improvements and methods to enhance efficiency.

•Performs field measurements at the job site when necessary.

•Makes sure that all tools, ladders, and equipment at jobsites are identified with company name. Makes sure all tools are secured to prevent loss or theft.

•Plans and coordinates tool and equipment-needs, to ensure availability.

•Ensures proper use and maintenance of tools. Returns them from the field promptly and notes any repair or maintenance that is required.

•Keeps accurate records of all and any incidents or injuries. Notifies the office immediately of any job site accidents or incidents and submits written records promptly.

•Notifies the Project Manager in advance of additional material needs for a project to minimize trips to supply houses. Visiting a vendor to pick up a will-call should be a last resort. In most cases the vendors will deliver to a job site or the shop.

•Handles change orders in a manner prescribed by the company.

•Ensures that the job hours for themselves and their crew are submitted daily.

•Keeps his truck clean and well maintained. Advises the Project Manager of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair needs before small repairs become expensive.

•Every Monday conducts an inventory and restocking of his van. Advises the Project Manager of inventory needs so they can be ordered in a timely fashion.

•Starts promptly every day and plans work to minimize overtime and maximize customer satisfaction.

•Any other duty or task that might be assigned by the Project Manager.

Technical Experience

•Proven field experience installing and servicing door access control platforms:

o Prodatakey

o Salto

o Milestone Systems (VMS-integrated access)

o Genea

o Mercury-based hardware

o Or similar systems

•Familiar with structured cabling (Cat6), camera installation, IP networking, rack mounting, and system termination.

•Understands compliance with local electrical codes and national low voltage standards.

•High School diploma or GED equivalency

•Mechanical aptitude, and willingness to learn.

•Can show understanding and ability to work test equipment.

•Have basic computer skills.

•Strong communication skills, both verbal and in documenting all work that is performed.

•Dependable transportation and valid driver’s license with a good driving record. You must be able to get to various worksites in the surrounding area.

•Professional appearance.

•Have, or be willing to purchase, all personal hand tools related to the trade.

•Must be able to lift at least 50lbs and work on your feet and or a ladder all day.

•Comfortable with working in environments 10 feet above the ground.

•Ability to work overtime and weekends if needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
