Accounts Payable Specialist / AP Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting team for a full-time contract opportunity in Birmingham. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working through complex invoice details, and keeping financial processes running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

$23-$25/hour

What You'll Be Doing

Process vendor invoices and payments while matching invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation
Perform three-way matching and research discrepancies to ensure accurate processing
Prepare payment files, ACH transactions, and electronic uploads within the ERP system
Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed
Assist with sales and use tax filings and related payment processing
Support financial statement audits and other accounting projects
Maintain accurate records while managing a high volume of transactions

What You'll Need to be Considered

3+ years of experience with high-volume Accounts Payable processing and invoice matching
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with spreadsheets and financial data
Experience working with ERP systems
Ability to research and resolve complex invoice or vendor-related issues
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
