Purchasing Supervisor

Description Willoway Nurseries is seeking a Procurement/Purchasing role focused on plant-related supplies, supplier relations, and purchasing strategies. This position is based in Avon, OH and involves office tasks with some outdoor collaboration as needed. Primary Responsibilities Oversee the procurement of plant related supplies such as containers, fertilizers, stakes/trellis supplies Collaborate with growers to maintain quality standards for incoming products Coordinate and communicate logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials to appropriate locations Employ strong negotiation skills to secure high-quality products at competitive prices Develop purchasing strategies that support company objectives Develop and maintain spec sheets on all purchase items Review and process purchase orders Maintain records of goods ordered and received Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers Build and maintain relationships with vendors Track status of incoming orders and communicate variances with appropriate department Work with department leads in developing annual budget Report forecasted variances in purchase compared to the budget Conduct all business affairs in accordance with Willoway’s business philosophy and Standard of Business Conduct Ensure purchased materials and products meet the Company’s specifications Participate as a key role in adopting a purchase order system company wide and own the subsequent management of said system Additional Responsibilities Inspect incoming materials and address quality concerns promptly Verify shortages and resolve discrepancies efficiently Ensure timely accounting processes of all received materials Other duties, responsibilities and requirements may be assigned by management as the seasonal workload or other factors demand Required Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Excel, and Power BI Strong record-keeping and file management capabilities Ability to create and present reports to farm managers and other stakeholders Analytical Assertive Knowledge And Abilities Preferred: Horticultural knowledge of plants and their growth in landscape settings Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and multitask in a fast-paced environment Strong oral and written communication skills Exceptional customer service abilities 2+ years of experience in purchasing role Work Environment 95% office-related tasks, 5% outdoor activities In office, located in Avon Ohio Regular collaboration with growers and inventory teams during material inspections Schedule 40 hours per week / 2080 hours per year Training Timeline A three-month minimum to one year to train a successor, covering procurement timeframes, and invoicing processes Compensation And Benefits First shift Monday-Friday (7am-4pm approximately are the typical hours) Competitive $26-29 per hour salary based on qualifications plus an earned annual bonus Comprehensive benefits package including cost effective medical insurance options 401k Company Match Company-paid life insurance Paid Time Off after 90 days, plus Paid Holiday Time upon hire Local Family business Growth opportunities Exceptional, organizationally aligned culture with Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) and transparency / open book management (Great Game of Business - GGOB) Other information: The description includes an equal opportunity employer statement and a note about Willoway Nurseries Drug Free Workplace Safety Program.
