Martin-Robbins Fence Co., Inc. is a Georgia and Alabama Department of Transportation Pre-Approved Contractor with over 60 years of experience in the commercial fencing and highway guardrail industry. Established in 1953, we provide statewide sales and installation of fence systems, electric operators, highway guardrail, impact attenuators, and highway signs .

As a leader in commercial fencing, highway guardrail, and gate operator systems, we serve departments of transportation, municipalities, general contractors, and private clients across the Southeast. As we continue to grow and modernize our preconstruction capabilities, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Remote Construction Estimator to join our team and help us compete for larger, more complex projects.

The Remote Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates and bid proposals for commercial fencing, highway guardrail, gate operator, and access control projects. You will analyze DOT specifications, project plans, and bid documents to determine material, labor, and equipment costs. This is a fully remote position requiring strong self-discipline, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with our field teams, suppliers, and DOT representatives across Georgia and Alabama.

• Review and analyze GDOT and ALDOT specifications, project plans, and bid documents to determine scope and requirements
\n
• Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates for fence systems, guardrail, cable barriers, impact attenuators, and gate operators
\n
• Develop complete bid packages for DOT, municipal, and private sector projects, including scope sheets, clarifications, assumptions, and exclusions
\n
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for materials such as chain link, ornamental fencing, guardrail components, and access control systems
\n
• Maintain and update cost databases, unit pricing, and historical project cost information specific to fencing and guardrail installation
\n
• Analyze project risks, schedule impacts, and constructability issues related to highway and commercial fencing projects
\n
• Support value engineering efforts and recommend cost-effective material and installation alternatives
\n
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to ensure continuity between estimating and project execution
\n
• Prepare and present estimate summaries to management for bid approval
\n
• Track bid results and maintain records for future reference and continuous improvement

Required:

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
\n
• 1+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in highway, civil, or commercial fencing/guardrail work
\n
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, or similar)
\n
• Strong ability to interpret DOT specifications, architectural, structural, and civil drawings with high accuracy
\n
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with remote teams, DOT officials, and suppliers
\n
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision
\n
• Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated home workspace
\n

Preferred:

\n
• Experience with GDOT or ALDOT pre-qualified contractor requirements and bidding processes
\n
• Knowledge of fencing materials, guardrail systems, and access control technology
\n
• Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools
\n
• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) designation is a plus

Salary:

\n
• $75,000 – $105,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications
