Position Overview:
MercyOne Genesis is seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Advanced Practice Provider (PA) to join our Pulmonary Critical Care team in a dedicated nocturnist role. This position provides overnight, on-site coverage at our Davenport campus, supporting ICU patients and collaborating with pulmonologists to ensure high-quality, continuous care.
This is a key role focused on maintaining stability and continuity of care overnight, with a strong emphasis on independent clinical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide comprehensive overnight coverage for ICU patients at the Davenport campus
* Perform cross-coverage and ongoing management of critically ill patients
* Respond to acute changes in patient condition, including rapid responses and codes
* Collaborate with on-call pulmonologists as needed while functioning with a high degree of autonomy
* Perform procedures within scope of practice (e.g., central lines, arterial lines, intubations - depending on experience and privileging)
* Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
* Communicate effectively with nursing staff, respiratory therapy, and multidisciplinary teams
* Support continuity of care through thorough handoffs to daytime teams
Qualifications:
* Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
* Board certification as an PA
* Active or eligible for licensure in Iowa
* Minimum of 1-2 years of ICU, critical care, or pulmonary experience preferred
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in a high-acuity environment
* Strong procedural skills preferred
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Schedule & Lifestyle:
* Three overnight shifts per week (Friday-Sunday, 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
