Estate Planning Associate – Private Client Group

Silverman Schermer, a boutique business, tax and estate planning firm, is seeking a motivated associate attorney to join our growing team in the Private Client group. This role is designed for a practicing attorney who is looking to build or deepen a sophisticated estate planning and private client practice serving high net worth individuals, families, and closely held business owners.

About the Role

The associate will work alongside senior attorneys in our Private Client group, which serves entrepreneurial families, business owners, and high net worth individuals across a broad range of planning and administration matters. Our practice integrates estate planning, tax, and business succession work in a way that reflects the complexity of our clients’ lives and enterprises. Prior estate planning experience is preferred but not required — we are most interested in candidates with the right foundation and the ambition to develop a meaningful practice in this area.

Responsibilities

•            Draft and review estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.

•            Assist with sophisticated planning strategies for high net worth clients, including wealth transfer, asset protection, and business succession structures.

•            Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on tax issues affecting estate plans, trust administration, and business ownership transitions.

•            Support attorneys in estate and trust administration matters.

•            Collaborate on integrated planning engagements that span estate planning, entity structure, and transactional work for private client families and their operating companies.

Qualifications

•            J.D. from an accredited law school; Florida Bar admission required (or eligibility and commitment to sit for the Florida Bar).

•            Approximately two years of experience in private practice; estate planning, taxation, or probate experience is preferred but not required.

•            Undergraduate background in finance, accounting, or a related business discipline is a plus.

•            Strong research, writing, drafting, and interpersonal skills.

•            Professional, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with high net worth clients and in a collaborative, close-knit firm environment.

Compensation

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
