Payroll SpecialistThe Payroll Department at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Payroll Specialist position.Examples Of DutiesResponsible for processing and verifying the accuracy of payroll data.Review and update payroll records by data entry of payroll authorizations and changes to employee records.Serve as the liaison for the Office of Payroll/SEC in conjunction with Financial Aid, Human Resources, and other related departments regarding student, biweekly, staff, and faculty labor.Communicate effectively, both orally and written.Maintain payroll records by adhering to federal and state governmental regulations.Maintain payroll operations by adhering to the University's policies and procedures and reporting.Maintain confidentiality of employee records and data.Process monthly vendor payments of garnishments and benefits.Other duties as assigned.Typical QualificationsBachelor's degree required.Three to five (3-5) years of experience in payroll, accounting, or human resources.Must be detail-oriented and have excellent time management skills.Must have knowledge of federal and state regulations.Must be able to communicate effectively orally, and in writing, and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and external contacts.
