Patient Service Rep - Float - Pendleton, Fortville, Lapel - As Needed

This position is an As-Needed (PRN) position that will float between Lapel, Fortville and Pendleton. The home location for the employee will be either Lapel or Fortville. This role is vital to giving the patient the “Patient’s First” service and treatment they deserve as soon as they walk into our facility. The Patient Service Representative works in conjunction with providers and clinical staff to take care of patients’ administrative needs. This position is responsible for checking patients in for appointments, collecting patient payments, answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling appointments, checking patients out, coordinating referrals, and checking insurance eligibility. This position utilizes our electronic medical record system to verify and update patient demographic information, as well as posting and balancing of payments collected. Responsibilities Checking patients in for appointments Collecting patient payments Answering telephones and taking accurate messages Scheduling appointments Checking patients out Coordinating referrals Checking insurance eligibility Verifying and updating patient demographic information in the electronic medical record system Posting and balancing payments collected Exceptional Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment or a minimum of 2 years of customer service experience. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred. Strong listening and communication skills; work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task, maintain attention to detail, strong organization skills, and be a team player. Demonstrated good judgment for maintaining confidentiality. Strong computer skills including experience with Intranet and Internet usage, Excel, Word, email, and web-based applications. #J-18808-Ljbffr Community Health Network
