Discover a more connected career At Pauley Construction, as a Foreman on our Telecom Underground team, you’ll lead crews in the installation and maintenance of underground telecommunication systems. You’ll ensure everyone is following safety protocols and project timelines. This position includes work direction, coordination and oversight of a crew or crews ranging from 2‑8 employees or subcontractors. It is responsible for overall safety, materials, reporting, customer communication, leadership, employee communication, and productivity measures. The Foreman specifically manages a crew that can oversee operations such as Trench & Plow, Aerial, Drilling/Bore, Asphalt or Conduit, including machine operation. The role requires frequent interface with customers and city inspectors, coordination of pre‑construction meetings, detailed safety and production recordkeeping, as‑builds, and leadership for all crews. The ideal candidate is a skilled excavation operator and will assist with permits, crew and site safety, and calling locates. Connecting You To Great Benefits Weekly Paychecks Paid Time Off, Parental Leave, and Holidays Insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance) 401(k) with company match Stock Purchase Plan Education Reimbursement Legal Insurance Discounts on gym memberships, pet insurance, and more What You’ll Do Lead crews to meet project timelines Shoveling, digging, handling and operating construction equipment Perform excavation operations, including operating equipment and transporting equipment if needed Provide general oversight over work direction within a crew or a group of subcontractors Assist in securing site safety for employees Complete general maintenance tasks Assist in general utility installation/repair Assist with as‑builds and ensure high‑quality work and attention to detail May assist supervisor in administrative tasks relating to hiring and interviewing employees Help train crew members Read and understand blueprints Sustain compliance with company safety policies, OSHA, and DOT regulations Assist supervisor with day‑to‑day activities Communicate with property owners about work to be performed and resolve any issues Safely use heavy equipment and machinery Perform work in all weather conditions Complete other duties as assigned What You’ll Need Be 18 years of age or older Authorized to work in the United States for this company Valid driver’s license Pass a background check and company drug screening Attend and pass all required company training Accept the possibility of overtime, after‑hours work, weekends, and on‑call duties as needed May work nights, holidays, and travel within the state or overnight as required Maintain regular and timely attendance as an essential function of the position High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience (preferred) Previous Foreman experience (preferred) Additional Qualifications Education/Experience Requirements: 6‑12 months of work‑related experience in utility construction, telecommunications, or laborer roles Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high‑quality results Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position Reasoning Ability Ability to make common‑sense decisions to carry out written, oral, or drawing instructions; manage problems involving employees, customers, and vendors in varied situations Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measuring distances, proportions, percentages, and area); apply basic mathematics concepts Language Skills Read, understand, and interpret documents such as safety rules, machine manuals, and procedural instructions; write reports; speak effectively with customers, coworkers, vendors, and the public Physical & Safety Requirements And The Working Environment Duties require standing, crouching, sitting, bending, using hands and fingers, and reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low; may involve moderate standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, lifting, holding, or stooping during a shift Noise level is moderate Employees are exposed to weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, sleet, dust, wet roads, icy roads, and fog Employees may need to lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds Exposure to dust, fumes, or other airborne pathogens is possible Potential exposure to toxic or corrosive chemicals and moving machinery parts Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus for near and far needs Pay Range The Foreman Telecom Underground hourly wage range is $20.00 – $45.00 depending on experience.
