Shift Lead

Act as Manager on Duty when necessary. Encourage cross‑team collaboration and set performance standards. Prioritize, assign, and delegate daily goals, tasks, and assignments to associate teams. Achieve sales, KPIs, and store performance goals. Customer Excellence Partner with the Store Manager to plan and execute community events. Develop mutually beneficial business relationships with rescue agencies. Maintain a safe and clean store environment. Operations & Team Building Maintain store standards and meet all safety requirements. Clean pet enclosures and ensure animals have appropriate food and water. Support fish system maintenance. Assist with restocking merchandise and moving products from stockroom to sales floor. Lift up to 55 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift. Ensure accurate physical inventories and meet shrink goals. Proficient in opening and closing procedures. Communicate performance concerns to Store Manager or Assistant Manager. Support new‑hire training and merchandising guidelines. Help with community events and partnerships with rescue agencies. Complete tasks as assigned by store management. Business Insight Understand business metrics and react to daily needs. Qualifications Minimum 1 year retail or customer service experience. Enjoy working with and around animals. Ability to work a flexible schedule – mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle preferred. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Heavy lifting up to 55 lbs required multiple times per shift. Standing, moving around, and short periods of mental concentration. Active listening and observation required. Work in a relatively temperature‑stable environment. Potential for accidental injuries from pets; common injuries include slips, trips, falls, and strains/sprains.
