Environmental Scientist - Emissions Testing

Overview TRC is seeking a full‑time, entry‑level Environmental Technician / Scientist for our Air Measurements Practice located in Austin, TX. The role involves supporting air emissions testing projects at various industrial facilities and provides a pathway to a career in environmental science and air quality. Responsibilities

• Travel across the United States, including Guam and Hawaii, for overnight field work; typical projects last 1–5 days with weekend downtime.
• Expected to work in site‑specific conditions, recording data, operating equipment, and handling samples in trailers.
• In office, perform equipment calibrations, repairs, data reduction, report writing, and laboratory tasks.
• Develop proficiency in USEPA sampling methods and learn about diverse industrial processes under guidance of experienced staff.
• Field work may be required on weekends and includes overnight stays for up to 75% of the weeks.

Qualifications Comfortable lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; may need to lift equipment to elevated locations such as stacks or rooftops via ladder, stairs, or elevator. Willing and able to work outdoors in all seasons. Strong written, oral, and moderate computer skills. Positive, solution‑oriented attitude. Successfully complete a background check and drug test prior to hire and participate in TRC’s random drug‑testing program thereafter. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; maintain DOT driver status (non‑Commercial). Complete all required annual safety training after hire. College degree required; background in science or engineering preferred but not essential. Compensation Salary range: USD $20.00 – $30.00 per hour, adjusted for experience, education, skill level, and location. Other compensation: Eligible to participate in the Company’s annual discretionary bonus program based on company, segment, and individual performance against key indicators.
